2 months old

Today James is 2 months old!

This past month has flown by! James is becoming such a big boy now... he weighs right around 10 pounds and he is about 23 inches long. He finally outgrew newborn size clothes and is currently wearing his 0-3 month size outfits (although some are still a little big on him!). We are finishing up the last package of newborn diapers right now and he will soon start on size 1's - although I will miss the wetness indicator line on the newborn sizes! why don't they put those on all diapers??

He can hold his head up for a little while and is really starting to enjoy checking out his surroundings. He no longer likes to be cradled when he is awake - but rather he likes to be held sitting up so that he can look around and see what is going on. He smiles a lot now and really reacts to Brian and I being silly. He loves when we sing and talk in funny voices.

Sleeping is getting better. Just last night he slept for almost six hours straight!! I was shocked and oh-so-excited! Lets hope he keeps this up!

During the day, I have been trying to get James on some sort of schedule in order to make things easier when he goes to daycare. Our day starts when Jamie decides to wake up - usually around 7-8am. He then eats for about an hour and then we play for an hour. I talk to him, walk around the house, give him some tummy time, play with toys, but him in the bouncer and then finally I put him in the swing. He usually falls asleep in the swing and I am able to eat breakfast and get some stuff done around the house. This nap is usually his longest of the day - about 2-3 hours.

Once he wakes up from his morning nap, I feed him again and then its play time again. Once he starts to get cranky, I know he is tired and I wrap him up and the rock him to sleep. He usually naps for about another hour or so and then when he wakes up - we repeat the whole process a few more times until bedtime with frequent walks around the neighborhood, baths at night and daddy-bonding time thrown in there as well!

I am trying to make the most of these last few weeks at home with my boy before I have to go back to work. I am excited to see adults again and actually leave the house each day - but I am SO sad to have to leave Jamie. It has been SO nice to be able to spend so much time with him and really get to know him. Being a working mom is going to be hard for me, but I know that I will treasure all the time I have with Jamie even more!
