16 week photos!

As promised, here are the latest belly shots!

16 week belly

In the picture above, I am wearing my new "bump" shirt I ordered. I first heard about these shirts a few years ago and just knew I wanted to get one! I wore it out yesterday for the first time and got a lot of compliments on it - here is a picture of what "bump" stands for! :)

And last but not least... Brian wanted to get in on the action and took his own belly shot!

We Did It!

Brian and I did it – we ordered the baby furniture!

Yesterday, Brian had the day off and we decided to make another trip to USA Baby and look at the three furniture options one more time. After hunting down our three choices in the store, we both agreed that we liked the Urban set the most. The Urban line is made by Munire and they are know for their high quality furniture. The crib is just so beautiful and the combo dresser will be perfect to use in the baby room for both storage and a changing area.

Originally, Brian and I had no intention of buying anything while we were at the store – we just wanted to make our final decision. But lo and behold, they were having an AMAZING sale. And if you know me – I LOVE sales!! We ended up ordering the furniture and now we just have to wait the 12-16 weeks for it to arrive! I am SO excited to see it set up in the baby room!

As far as a baby update – today I am 15 weeks and 3 days pregnant and according to my iPhone application our baby is about as big as an apple right now. He/She is approximately 4.1 inches long and weights around 4.8 oz. Apparently, I should be able to start feeling the baby move over the next couple weeks. I cannot wait to actually be able to tell that there is a baby in there (besides the fact that my belly keeps getting bigger!)

Don’t forget to check back later this week for the next “belly shot” – our goal is to do one every two weeks to track the progression of my BUMP.

14 week Update

Brian and I have made it to 14 weeks - yay! Depending on what pregnancy books or websites you read, we are officially in the 2nd trimester now. 1/3 of the pregnancy done – only 2/3 to go!

On Wednesday we had our latest check-up with the doctor and the baby is doing great. He/She is definitely a stinker though (takes after Brian) and does not like to cooperate for the doctor! After a few minutes of trying to get the baby’s heartbeat on the portable Doppler (and a few minutes of me freaking out when they could not find it!), the doctor gave up and took us to the ultrasound room for a quick look.

Baby McDermott was looking great – kicking and waving at us like crazy! The doctor was amazed at how long the baby’s legs and arms were, but Brian and I were not surprised given how tall we both are.

We have another appointment with the doctor in 4 weeks and then 2 weeks after that we get to come in for our 20 week ultrasound and find out the sex of the baby! It will be nice to know whether it’s a boy or a girl, so that we can start planning the theme/décor of the baby room and finally buy some of the cute baby clothes I see when out shopping.

As far as how I am doing – I am happy to report I have only gained about 2 pounds so far this pregnancy! Even though, it is getting a little harder every day to get my pants buttoned… I think it is almost time to start shopping in the “dreaded” maternity section.

Last night, Brian and I decided to start the 1st of many “belly shots” that we will take during the pregnancy to document the growth of the baby. So, without further ado – here is the official 14-week belly shot! (Please don’t laugh!)

Last but not least, we are off on a quick weekend trip to California tonight for a friend’s wedding in Big Sur tomorrow! Besides being excited for the wedding, I am really excited to get me some In-N-Out for dinner and make a quick stop to Trader Joe’s to pick up my favorite chocolate meringues! Yummy! (and I am sure that Brian is most excited about getting him some Firestone beer!)

Anywho - I hope you all have a great weekend!

The Start of The Baby Room

Brian and I have been busy the last few weeks shopping for baby furniture! I had NO idea how many options there are when it comes to styles, colors and brands.

The first thing we decided on was what color furniture we wanted. We both did not want to have white or black furniture, so we have opted to look for a darker wood - either walnut, espresso or cherry. We want the furniture to be able to work in either a girl or boys room and we want it to last through at least a few kids!

While browsing through some online crib stores, I came to the realization that I was not a fan of cribs that were TOO curvy and that I was drawn to simple, classic looking cribs. We started our search at Babies'R'Us and only really found one set we liked. I was not sold on it, so we kept looking. The next stop was Burlington Coat Factory and nothing there really caught my eye either.

I was talking with my friend Davi, who had a baby last November. and she told me about a little store down south called USA Baby - so Brian and I went to check it out this past Thursday. I was VERY impressed with the store - they carry furniture that is a little pricier than other stores, but the quality and styles were exactly what I was looking for. After walking around the store, we found five sets that we really liked.

After some further thought, consideration and online research, I think we have narrowed it down to the following three sets:

Annabelle

Urban

Wendy

SO - what do you all think? We would love to hear your thoughts!

And last but not least, I just wanted to share with you all the first purchase we made for the baby's room! I actually had seen this for the first time a few years ago and when I saw it again about a month ago, I could not help but purchase it! This baby will be born a Texas fan!

The mobile even plays the "Eyes of Texas" - how great is that??

The Cat is out of the Bag

Hi everyone! If you are reading this blog, then you already know our exciting news – Brian and I are having a baby! Yep – our little one should be making his or her arrival around February 12, 2010 – our own little Valentine’s Day baby!

We are both so excited to start this new chapter of our life and wanted to start this blog so that you can all share this special time with us!

To give you all an update on what has been going on so far…

We found out we were expecting right at the beginning of June, and although we had been trying for a while – this was the one month we decided to NOT try and look what happened! Our first doctor appointment was back on June 17th and that was the first time we got to see our little one and even hear the heart beat! He/She had a very strong heartbeat of 184, which already convinced Brian that we are having a boy! Lets hope he does not jinx anything!

We have since had two more doctor appointments and everything has looked good! Right now, I am officially 12 weeks and 5 days pregnant and according to my handy-dandy iPhone application, our baby is as big as a Plum right now!

So far – I have been feeling OK during this pregnancy. I am definitely tired all the time and usually fall asleep on the couch every night around 8/9. I have not had any “morning sickness” – more like all-day-off-and-on-feel-like-i-might-puke sickness. I guess I should be thankful, because it could be a lot worse!

As we get further and further along in this pregnancy, we will try our best to update you on what is going on in our life – whether it be doctor appointments, baby shopping, belly pictures or just random pregnant woman ramblings! I hope you all enjoy getting a glimpse into what is going on with Baby McDermott!

And one last thing before I go – a special THANK YOU to my wonderful friend Brittany who designed this adorable blog for me! Didn’t she do a great job??
