5 Months Old!

Our little man is 5 months old!

(as of this past Sunday actually...)

James weighs in now about 17 pounds and his belly seems to get bigger by the day! He is still wearing 3-6 month clothes (and some 0-3 month and 6-9 month sizes as well!) He is using up the last few packages of his size 2 diapers and then he will be sporting the Little Movers diapers in size 3. I can't wait for him to model the denim ones I bought awhile ago!

He LOVES to stand on his legs now... he prefers that over sitting. He still is not a big fan of tummy time, but he can hold up his chest and head now. He has not rolled over yet, but gets pretty close if you help him out.

He has also (sometimes) starting sleeping through the night! Woo hoo! He will do good for a couple nights (sleeping 7-9 hours straight) and then once I get used to this new routine, he wakes up in the middle of the night after only a few hours. I guess James does not want me to get too comfortable with this whole sleep thing. Haha.

First Road Trip

This past weekend, we took our first road trip with the little man. Since Brian had the weekend off, we decided to go up to Dallas and visit some friends we had not seen in awhile. We all had a great time and James did very well during the trip despite the few fussy moments, short naps and not pooping for over 40 hours!

Milk Mouth

Brian and I like to call James "Milk Mouth" and the below pictures are why...

First Vacation

Our little man is already an international traveler!

In June, we were lucky enough to be able to bring James on our family vacation to Los Cabos, Mexico. For one glorious week, we enjoyed some fun in the sun and got to experience what it is like to travel with a little one!

(And did I mention ALL the stuff you have to bring for a baby! We had a car seat, a stroller, a travel pack n play, the bouncer, and not to mention all his clothes, diapers and formula! I think James had the most stuff out of everyone!)

James spent most of his vacation doing the things he loves the most...

He did a lot of napping...

And a lot of this...

And a lot of swimming with Daddy...

and napping some more...

and some more swimming...

and of course... a lot of eating!

James also got to experience touching sand for the first time! At first, he seemed to enjoy it...

and on second thought... I do not think he liked it too much!

Although vacations with a four-month old are not nearly as relaxing as previous vacations have been - we all had a great time. James did pretty good on the plane ride down there (the plane ride home is another story) and he seemed to adjust well to the beach life! The staff at the hotel loved him and was always talking to him and of course - Jamie loved ALL the attention. The best was every morning at breakfast, the waiters would look at James and tell him "no mas tequila for you!" and he would get a big 'ol grin!

James especially loved spending time in the pool. He went swimming about two times each day and I think it must have wore him out - because he slept 9 hours straight one night! That was the first time he had EVER slept that long!

While he was pretty happy and content most of the trip, there was definitely had a few cranky nights where we ended up staying in earlier than expected - but it worked out nicely because I actually got some much needed rest! I think all in all - he did pretty good for his first trip and I look forward to our next trip now that we have some experience under our belt!

Thanks again Pop Pop and Grandma Sharon for the trip! It was wonderful and we had an amazing time and cannot wait to do it again!

4 Months Old

(I apologize that this post is a few weeks late...)

James turned 4 months old on June 11!
Our little boy now weighs in right around 15 pounds. He is wearing size 2 diapers now and while he can still fit in some of his 0-3 month size clothes, we have broken out all the 3-6 month size clothes as well. His tummy has actually gotten so big that some of the 3-6 month size shorts are already a tad bit snug for him!

After capturing the photo above, James decided he had had enough of mommy taking his picture and he took matters into his own hands:

Sick Day

My little boy is sick.

For the past few days, James has sounded a little congested. Yesterday when we woke up, he sounded really bad. His nose was so snotty and he was coughing and he just kept crying and crying. We called the doctor and she told us that besides saline drops and nasal suction - there is really nothing you can do and that it will just run its course.

Luckily, Brian had the day off - so we decided to keep James home from daycare in order to keep an eye on him and make sure he did not get worse. After lots of saline spray, nose suction and running the humidifier... James seemed to feeling better.

Here are some pictures Brian sent to my phone while I was at work yesterday and he was hanging out with the little guy...

I am happy to say that after running out to Target last night and spending $20 on a sleep wedge so that Jamie's head would be elevated while he slept - he seems to be doing much better. There is still some snot and coughing, but it is SO much better then yesterday.

Let's hope he kicks this sickness in the butt real soon, because having a sick boy just breaks my heart!
