2 months old

Today James is 2 months old!

This past month has flown by! James is becoming such a big boy now... he weighs right around 10 pounds and he is about 23 inches long. He finally outgrew newborn size clothes and is currently wearing his 0-3 month size outfits (although some are still a little big on him!). We are finishing up the last package of newborn diapers right now and he will soon start on size 1's - although I will miss the wetness indicator line on the newborn sizes! why don't they put those on all diapers??

He can hold his head up for a little while and is really starting to enjoy checking out his surroundings. He no longer likes to be cradled when he is awake - but rather he likes to be held sitting up so that he can look around and see what is going on. He smiles a lot now and really reacts to Brian and I being silly. He loves when we sing and talk in funny voices.

Sleeping is getting better. Just last night he slept for almost six hours straight!! I was shocked and oh-so-excited! Lets hope he keeps this up!

During the day, I have been trying to get James on some sort of schedule in order to make things easier when he goes to daycare. Our day starts when Jamie decides to wake up - usually around 7-8am. He then eats for about an hour and then we play for an hour. I talk to him, walk around the house, give him some tummy time, play with toys, but him in the bouncer and then finally I put him in the swing. He usually falls asleep in the swing and I am able to eat breakfast and get some stuff done around the house. This nap is usually his longest of the day - about 2-3 hours.

Once he wakes up from his morning nap, I feed him again and then its play time again. Once he starts to get cranky, I know he is tired and I wrap him up and the rock him to sleep. He usually naps for about another hour or so and then when he wakes up - we repeat the whole process a few more times until bedtime with frequent walks around the neighborhood, baths at night and daddy-bonding time thrown in there as well!

I am trying to make the most of these last few weeks at home with my boy before I have to go back to work. I am excited to see adults again and actually leave the house each day - but I am SO sad to have to leave Jamie. It has been SO nice to be able to spend so much time with him and really get to know him. Being a working mom is going to be hard for me, but I know that I will treasure all the time I have with Jamie even more!

First Easter

I meant to get this post written during the week - but once again time escaped me! It is crazy how much more effort it takes to get anything done with Jamie around! :)

Anywho...

Last Sunday, Brian and I celebrated our first Easter together as a family with little Jamie. It was such a great day! Luckily, Brian had the day off of work, so we were able to spend quality time together and with some of our friends that came over for dinner. Jamie also got to enjoy his first Easter basket from Brian and I and he also got super lucky and got another basket from his Auntie Krissy!

A Video

I decided today that I need to make more of an effort to take videos of Jamie. I want to make sure that I have plenty of photos and videos to remember him throughout these precious times of his life.

So, enjoy this video from today where I captured Jamie's precious baby smile! (Please ignore my cheesy talking through-out the video!)

1 month old!

Today James is officially 1 month old! **

I cannot believe how fast this past month has gone by. It seems like just yesterday we brought him home from the hospital! The past month has been SO very challenging, but also the most rewarding.

It is amazing to see the changes in James since he was born. He is now almost two inches taller and weighs almost a pound heavier - the few newborn outfits that he has are starting to get a little snug! He still spends a good amount of his day sleeping - but there is now a significant amount of time during the day when he is awake and alert. He has his fussy times, his play times, his tummy time and his cuddling time - not to mention the dozens of diaper changing times!

**I thought it would be a neat idea to track Jamie's growth progress with monthly photo updates - as you can see from the first one above, he was not too cooperative with my propping him up on the couch, but I am hoping it will get easier as he gets older!

Newborn Photo Shoot

This past Wednesday, the photographer from our maternity shoot came over to take Jamie's newborn photos. The little one did SO well during the long photo shoot and we cannot wait to see all the photos. Check out the sneak peek of the photos here!
